Who We Are

Firm Foundation Youth Homes is a Christian nonprofit dedicated to providing safe, family-centered homes and long-term relational support for Arizona’s foster children and the young adults they become.

We believe every child deserves to experience connection, hope, and healing in a home rooted in grace and truth. Our mission is to walk with each child one step at a time, helping them build a foundation of trust that leads to healthy relationships and a brighter future.

Firm Foundation Youth Homes exists to repair the negative effects of a child’s past by providing family-centered care that promotes healing and connection, while giving the community opportunities to infuse their strengths and blessings into those we serve.

Our Story

2 men and a women, co-founds of Firm Foundation Youth Homes

Firm Foundation Youth Homes was founded by Peter and Julie Bartolini, who have spent decades caring for and advocating for children from hard places. After fostering nearly 20 children and serving through camps, mentoring programs, and training roles, they saw firsthand how traditional group homes often lack the relational environment kids need to heal.

In response, they purchased what became Gigi’s Cottage in 2015, opening a home designed to feel truly family-centered. In 2016, they welcomed their first children, creating a replicable model of relational, trauma-informed care grounded in TBRI® and Grace-Based Parenting.

In 2022, Scottsdale Bible Church partnered with FFYH through its “For the Valley” initiative, strengthening the ministry and expanding its reach. Together, FFYH and SBC continue working to improve outcomes for foster youth and families across Arizona.

Gigi’s Cottage is our first home and the heart of our ministry. Designed to feel safe, warm, and relational, the cottage provides girls with stability, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. Everything from the round table where everyone has an equal seat to personalized rooms and safe outdoor spaces was designed to help children feel valued and connected.

Our Model of Care

We believe kids who have been hurt through relationships heal best through relationships. Our model is built on a team of dedicated, trained staff who live out TBRI® principles and Grace-Based Parenting in every interaction. Every home is designed to feel like a true family. And our commitment doesn't end when a child turns 18. We walk with them for as long as they need support.

Our Team

Our Board of Directors provides spiritual covering, strategic guidance, and accountability to ensure Firm Foundation Youth Homes remains faithful to its mission.
